Hey guys, I purchased a 2007 650r about a month ago. I did look it over and evaluate what I could when I was buying, but I'm only 19 and really only used my best judgment. Having been working on it for the past month I've found a few underlying issues that I want your opinion on. One, if not both of the side fairings have been replaced, the gas tank is also new. The frame slider on the right side is bent, and the front brake pedal (also right side of bike) is brand new. The frame and crankcase have scratches on them. (all vertical, and I think the scratches are more fairing paint trade since they have a red hue). Some of those discoveries I could only make with time. How bad do you think it is? The previous owner had to replace so much, that tells me it was in a serious wreck. I also thought about motorcycle racers, they replace fairings, levers, and dented tanks when they go down right? They don't just claim bikes totaled and then get a new one. They'd all be broke. not front brake pedal, front brake lever xD Edit: Yeah everything runs nicely, it really runs perfect. Oil change looked perfect, no debris or metal shavings. Air filter was nice and spark plugs perfect. It shifts in and out nicely of each gear. At low speeds it falls into turns (but the tires are still square and underinflated). Thanks for the reassurance! I sort of want to get a motorcycle, or one of those road legal dirt bikes to drive to work and back, but the thing is I'm SUPER scared I'll hit a deer. I sort of live in a village with woods on both sides of the roads, and deer usually pop out and get hit by cars at least once a year. I really want to get a motorcycle but im too paranoid of this happening. Does anyone know much about this? Would you be okay if a deer ran out in front of you, or like a moose or cat or dog? Will you go crashing into the ditch and die? or cut right through the animal and be covered from head to toe in blood? was looking around couldnt find any detailed information on it, Is it bad for a bike to have a power commander on it? Like in the long run of a bikes life will it mess with the performance of the bike in a bad way. Ok so I will be 18 years old pretty soon, and I always wanted to have a bike, but I very little riding experience, and of course I plan to take safety precautions, such as taking motorcycle safety courses, and passing my license, and practice a lot. I was thinking of getting a Kawasaki Ninja 250r. They are good bikes, but the thing is my mom is absolutely against it, but I will move out of her place and move to my dad's, I spoke to my dad today, and he told me that I shouldn't get it, but he never said no to me, he just told me about all the cons and such of having a bike, but I still really want to get one, what should I do, its kind of my dream haha, I won't be fool btw I will be responsible on the road !! Okay so I cant decide what to do... I'm 15... I don't know if I should sell my 2006 crf150f... If I do sell it then do you think I should get a worked 2004 yz125 or should I save up some more and get a quad.. I don't know what to do because If I get the yz125 I would start racing, but I don't have that much money, so I wouldn't be able to go that often... But If I get a quad its easier to ride on the trail and its a blast to ride in the snow, I cant drive a dirt bike on the snow... I know I would have such an urge to race motocross in the summer but in the winter I would wish I had a quad, So tell me what you think..... ALSO .. The bike I have now (Honda crf150f) Its in great shape, and I have the title. But the Yz125 im planning to get doesn't have the title, But its really worked, the guy put almost 3000 dollars worth of stuff into it (New forks, shocks, top and bot end, tires, plastics, ect.) he pretty much rebuilt the entire bike, Im just don't know what to do since he doesn't have the title....Thanks in advance for all answers :) Oh and I know the guy did everything he said to the bike because I seen it before... I have an 84' xr250r. I relaced the cable that goes to the lever and goes down and hooks to the compression thingy on the engine. For some reason I can't get it back on right. I put both ends on to where they need to be and on the lever side it just pops out and is really loose. I bought a manual for it but it doesn't say anything about it. And yes it is the right cable. I plan on learning to ride a motorcycle, I scheduled my riders course next month. My parents are both fully against it... however, i'm 18, responsible, and will fully be paying for the motorcycle, gear, and insurance. I do fine in school, i currently have a 4.0 GPA, and it's just something i want to do. It has its benefits (affordability, MPG, etc) but i do know that it is as dangerous as you can get on the road. I do NOT plan on riding it at night, or in bad weather until i have a couple of seasons under my belt, just to work, school, and whenever i feel like riding. I know how to work a clutch, and so on, i've been watching all the videos i can and i truly cant wait to be on it. My question is, when i purchase one, eventually they will have to accept it right? like i wont be forced to take it back or whatever the case is. Thank you P.S. by saying i know how to work a clutch, i didn't mean through videos on youtube... i drive a stick shift car. To all your ignorant people, I do have a job... it pays pretty well, actually. I pay for my own college education, which as an Air Traffic Control student, is about 1400 a semester... pretty affordable. I spend unnecessary money on guitar stuff, that i can cut out. The money isn't the issue, and neither is the possibility of getting kicked out. There's no way under the sun they will kick me out for getting a motorcycle, and if they do, they know where to find me, 2 houses down. I want to put the top end of a Can-Am 175cc on the bottom end of a 125cc. Will it fit? Will it be a 175cc? I have a moving chases/frame. I don't know much about this bike. I got it as a package deal and thought it would be a fun/hard project. Its a 1974 with front/bake brakes, front fender, gas tank, speedometer, good tires/rimes. I am wanting to restore/make running.
